FRESHER-FROZEN ALASKA SALMON: IT'S NATURALLY BETTER When people ask "Is the seafood fresh?" what they are really asking is "Is it of good quality?" It may come as a surprise, but some of the best and highest quality seafood is often frozen. Seafood quality cannot be improved once the fish leaves the water; it can only be maintained. Leader Creek Fisheries commitment to quality begins with their fleet of fishing vessels, each equipped with refrigeration systems so that our Sockeye Salmon are placed in chilled water immediately after they’re brought aboard. (LCF established the first all-refrigerated fishing fleet in Bristol Bay) The fish are processed and flash-frozen shortly after they’re harvested resulting in Sockeye Salmon that’s as close to fresh-caught quality as you can get. Sockeye Salmon retain their deep, red color, firm texture, and distinctive flavor when fresh-frozen.
